and arrived at the Commonwealth Day Service last month looking glamorous as ever. The new Duchess of Edinburgh looked phenomenal in a cream ensemble, but it was her earrings that caught royal fans’ attention.

Sophie decided to re-wear the earrings that she wore at her

Daniel O’Farrell, the founder, bespoke jeweller and diamond expert at DC Jewellery spoke to about these earrings and their significance.

He said: “Sophie’s ‘wow’ elements at her wedding were her black and white cross motif pearl necklace with matching black and white pearl drop earrings, both of which were a wedding gift from Prince Edward, who had them created by Asprey and Garrard.”

The fact that these jewels were designed by the Duke of Edinburgh shows how much they must mean to Sophie.

Jewellery expert Zack Stone also commented on Sophie’s wedding style for

He added: “The unsung hero of style, Sophie Wessex stunned on her wedding day and we couldn’t take our eyes off her necklace and earrings.”

The expert explained why these pearls were so significant for the Duchess to wear at her nuptials.

“Designed by Prince Edward himself, both pieces combine white and black pearls, with the necklace featuring a bold cross pendant,” Zack claimed.

“Pearls have always had a connection with royalty and Kate Middleton, Princess Anne and Queen Camilla are regularly seen sporting the radiant gemstone.”

The designer label that created the jewels for Prince Edward to gift his wife also made another piece of sentimental jewellery for the Duchess.

Zack noted: “The matching pieces were made by Asprey and Garrard, which adds to the sentimental value as they were also responsible for Sophie’s engagement ring.”

Sophie clearly loves these earrings so much, as she is still wearing them in 2023.

For footwear, Sophie wore her Prada Natural Classic Pumps which she was first seen wearing all the way back in March 2017, over six years ago.

They are described as a “Prada pump in patent saffiano leather” and look perfect with any colour due to their neutral shade.

Unfortunately, these shoes are no longer available for royal fans to purchase, but Sophie has made very good use out of them.
